Man Accused Of Stabbing, Robbing Woman During Assault: Meriden Police
Police said the man was seen driving his vehicle into the woman, who was known to him, after taking items from her.
MERIDEN, CT — A man is accused of stabbing and robbing a woman, before hitting her with his vehicle, during a domestic assault in Meriden in May, according to police.
Police responded around 11:10 p.m. on May 31 to the rear parking lot of the North Tower on Willow Street on the report of an assault-in-progress.
Officers found a woman who appeared to have suffered serious stab wounds, according to police. The victim was taken to Hartford Hospital for trauma treatment, police said.

The investigation was taken over by the Major Crimes Unit.
Police said surveillance footage of the incident depicted an argument between a man and the victim.

“Prior to the stabbing, the male was observed physically assaulting the female, forcefully taking items from her and driving his vehicle into her,” police wrote in the news release.
Shawn Samuel was identified as the suspect, according to police.
Police said Samuel was detained in New Haven on June 5, with the assistance of the Branford Police Department and the New Haven Police Department. Due to on-sight charges, police said Samuel was remanded to the Department of Corrections by his parole officer.
He was later charged with narcotics violations following the execution of a search-and-seizure warrant on his vehicle, according to police.
Police later obtained an arrest warrant for Samuel in connection with the Meriden case.
Samuel was charged Aug. 22 with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, criminal attempt at second-degree assault, and first-degree unlawful restraint. He was held in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
