MERIDEN, CT — A Meriden man was arrested Wednesday for the second time in two weeks, according to police.
Members of the Meriden Crime Suppression Unit saw 32-year-old Donnie Andrews seated in a parking lot in the area of St. Casimir Drive on Aug. 13, according to police.
Police said the unit is familiar with Andrews and had arrested him two weeks ago on charges of possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with the intent to sell.

“Since the Members of the Crime Suppression Unit were aware that Andrews had an outstanding warrant, they approached Mr. Andrews on foot,” police wrote in a news release. “As they did, he was alerted to their presence by an individual who was with him.
“As he rose to his feet to run, detectives observed what they believed to be a clear plastic baggie filled with a white rocklike substance, which was consistent with crack/cocaine, in Andrews’ lap. Andrews fled on foot; however, he was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Once apprehended, Andrews was no longer in possession of the baggie. A search of the area was unsuccessful, and detectives believe that Andrews discarded the baggie either as he rose to his feet or while he was running.”
