Man Already Facing Charges In Enfield Arrested In Middletown Sex Assault Case
A man already facing sex assault charges in Enfield is facing similar charges in a Middletown sex assault case, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A 59-year-old Massachusetts man already in custody on a high bond in a northern Connecticut sexual assault case has now been charged in a similar case out of Middletown.
On Wednesday, Derrick Gaither, of West Springfield, MA, was charged in Middletown with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, four counts of risk of injury to a child, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and criminal attempt to commit sexual assault in the first degree, police said.
Police said a warrant was secured after a lengthy investigation into Gaither's activities. According to the warrant, Gaither is accused of having sexual contact with three "minor children" in Middletown between 2011 and 2017.

Gaither was held on a $3 million bond for the Middletown case.
Gaither is currently being held on a $350,000 bond in connection with an Enfield sexual assault case. He was arrested there on Jan 29 after his vehicle was spotted exiting Interstate 91 at Elm Street and he was taken into custody, according to a case report in Enfield.

A warrant out of Enfield has charged with with second-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child, judicial system records show.
