Champions Karate School Opens in Cromwell

Sifu Debbie Shekosky brings more than 22 years of karate experience to her students.

Champions Karate School began offering classes on Sept. 3 in Cromwell, with owner and chief instructor Sifu Debbie Shekosky, who brings more than 22 years of karate experience to her students.

She is a fourth-degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and a first-degree black belt in Modern Arnis. She has trained with many martial arts experts such as Grand Master Wally Jay founder of Small Circle Jujitsu, Joe Lewis, US American Kickboxing Champion, Superfoot Bill Wallace and Grandmaster Remy Presas, founder of Modern Arnis.  

Shekosky started her karate career in 1991. Early on, she traveled throughout New England competing successfully in tournaments. With her years of training, teaching and competing, Shekosky brings a wealth of experience to her new school.

Champions Karate School teaches Kenpo Karate, Modern Arnis and self-defense, improves fitness, self-discipline, self-confidence, and mental focus. Karate also relieves stress and increases awareness.

Champions Karate School is located at New England Athletic Club, 6 Progress Drive in Cromwell. The Kenpo group classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings and Saturdays mornings.  Private lessons are also offered.
