When police arrived, they determined the suspect's vehicle had fled the scene.
Police said a 70-year-old male pedestrian was located on the scene suffering from serious injuries and taken to the hospital.
According to the NPD, a neighborhood canvass ensued with surveillance footage obtained, showing the suspect vehicle was gray with a black top.
Police found a side mirror at the scene, determining it belonged to a Toyota Camry, police said.
Those details, along with the NPD detectives' analysis of surveillance camera footage in that area, allowed officers to pin down the suspect's vehicle.
