Apartment Fire Reported In Middletown, Broken Hydrant Poses Challenge
Middletown South Fire District crews battled not only the fire but also hot and humid weather during the fire at an apartment building.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A bedroom on the third floor of an apartment building recently caught fire, Middletown South Fire District said.
On Tuesday, Sept. 6, around 4:15 p.m., the South Fire District was dispatched to Omo Street for a report of a building fire, South Fire District said.
Emergency crews responded to the fire and the City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073 and Westfield Fire Department provided mutual aid on the scene, South Fire District said.

When fire personnel arrived, they saw smoke coming from the third floor, South Fire District said.
The fire was located in a bedroom, and due to quick work by all on scene, the fire was contained to the room of origin, South Fire District said.

The fire wasn’t the only challenge fire personnel faced. They also faced the hot and humid weather, Omo Street being narrow along with a fire hydrant being out of service, South Fire District said.
All challenges were quickly overcome, South Fire District said.
