CT State Police Issue Apology After Evidence Shows Man Didn't Drive 132 MPH As Originally Alleged
"We offer a sincere apology to him and those directly impacted. Our duty is to serve and protect with empathy," state police wrote.
CROMWELL, CT — Azmir Djurkovic, who was accused of driving 132 mph on I-91 in Cromwell on June 4 because he was allegedly late for a job interview did no such thing and now State Police leadership are apologizing.
According to WFSB 3 TV, video from the trooper showed it was a different car that had been stopped when compared to the vehicle Djurkovic owns, and his attorneys said there was evidence that their client was home in bed at the time of the incident. All charges have been dropped against Djurkovic.
On Friday, June 27 State Police Colonel Daniel Loughman released the following statement:

“On June 4, 2025, State Police personnel investigated a vehicle traveling in excess of 130 mph on I-91 in Rocky Hill. An arrest was made on this day, and upon further review, it was determined that errors may have been made in the investigation and that a prosecution should not proceed on this matter.
We recognize the distress this incident has caused Mr. Djurkovic and his family. We offer a sincere apology to him and those directly impacted. Our duty is to serve and protect with empathy.

An internal affairs investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances of this investigation, if policies were followed, and if corrective action is needed.
I support the Middletown State’s Attorney’s Office handling of the case and will work with them to ensure that all our future investigations are conducted thoroughly and appropriately.
