CT State Police K9 Jesse Receiving Bullet, Stab Proof Vest
K9 Jesse is a six-year-old male German Shepard trained in narcotics detection, tracking, building searches, evidence recovery and more.

MIDDLETOWN, CT - Connecticut State Police’s K-9 Jesse will receive a bullet and stab protective vest via a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
K9 Jesse’s vest is sponsored by MacKenzie Machine, Inc., of New Haven, CT, and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Keeping our dogs safe! In loving memory of BRP.” Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.
K9 Jesse has been assigned to Trooper First Class Scott Menard for the past 18 months and the K9 team is currently working at Troop H in Hartford. K9 Jesse is a six-year-old male German Shepard who is trained in all patrol functions including tracking, building searches, evidence recovery, apprehension, obstacles and obedience. K9 Jesse is also cross-trained as a narcotics detection canine, according to a press release from Cathleen L. Hinsch of the CT State Police Public Information Office.

The donation to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K9 is $1,050, Hinsch wrote. Each vest has an average weight of 4-5 pounds and has a value between $1,795 and $2,234 and a five-year warranty.
