Free Summer Meals Start In Middletown: Here's What You Need To Know

MIDDLETOWN, CT — As Middletown Public Schools let their students out for the summer, school staff is preparing to start the Summer 2023 Meals program.

Middletown Public Schools are participating in the federally funded 2023 Summer Food Service Program from June 26 through Aug. 11.

School officials said Middletown Public Schools operates its own food and nutrition services department instead of contracting with outside food service, allowing them to be responsive to the needs of its students and families.

There are three locations where all children (ages 18 and under) who reside in Middletown can access free breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and free lunch from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. every weekday.

From Monday 26 through Friday, Aug. 11, summer meals will begin at Beman Middle School, 1 Wilderman's Way.

Summer meals will begin from July 3 through Aug. 11 at Macdonough Elementary School, 66 Spring St.

School officials said all meals will be served outside (rain or shine) of Beman and Macdonough.

From July 10 through Aug. 11, only lunch will be served at the Middletown YMCA, 99 Union St.

School officials said the grab-and-go meal option will not be available this year due to state regulation changes. All food must be consumed on-site.

All children participating in the summer program run by Middletown Public Schools or Middletown Recreation Services will have access to a free breakfast and lunch every day the program is in session at the program's site.
