The New program "enhances medication options, reduces financial burden and improve clinical outcomes for patients," officials said.

The new service is designed to streamline medication delivery, officials said.

Middlesex Hospital, in partnership with Clearway Health, a specialty pharmacy services company based in Boston, will operate the specialty pharmacy and provide surrounding services "to ensure patients throughout Middlesex County and along the Connecticut shoreline are connected to vital specialty medications," officials said.

Middlesex Hospital offers inpatient pharmacy services to those staying at the hospital in Middletown. The new specialty pharmacy will offer services for patients not staying at the hospital and will help to provide an additional retail pharmacy service for Middlesex patients displaced by recent retail pharmacy closures in the area, officials said.
