ID Released Of Suspect In Officer Involved Shooting: Middletown PD

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown Police Department said Winston Tate, 53, remains in an area hospital in police custody, and an arrest warrant has been served.

Saturday morning, police responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of Liberty Street. As a result, an officer-involved shooting occurred, police said.

The suspect, identified as Tate, was taken to a hospital, where he received treatment and is in serious but stable condition, police said.

On Monday, police said Tate would tentatively be released from hospital care and arraigned on his charges at Middlesex Superior Court on Aug. 15.

Tate is charged with criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, assault on public safety personnel and interfering with police, police said.

Tate’s bond is set at $500,000, police said.
