We face many challenges as a nation and a world. "We" includes the non-human living things -- birds, fish, retiles, mammals, trees, bugs, butterflies, snails, worms, and microbes around and within us. Every part affects the whole that is constantly evolving, bringing both pain and new forms of life-- organic, institutional, and cultural.
