Middletown Arrests: Aug. 6-20

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Aug. 20

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR —  At 1:08 a.m., police checking Columbus Park found a car with two people inside. One, the report says, Thomas H. Fontanez, 24, of no certain address, had an outstanding warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — About 3 a.m., Chantal Madore, 25, of Dudley Lane, Madison, was in a verbal argument with a man in the McDonald's parking lot on Washington Street and moved to the Sunoco gas station, according to the report. Police say Madore, the passenger, was visibly intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. She was found with an active warrant from New Haven.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — At 11:45 a.m., Kimberly A. Donofrio, 31, of Dora Drive was part of a disturbance, arguing with a man, at the upper parking arcade near the courthouse, according to the report, and police recognized her from prior encounters. After a domestic the previous night, police say, she was told to stay away from the victim but admitted returning to the home. 

RECKLESS DRIVING, DISOBEYING AN OFFICER'S SIGNAL, STOP SIGN VIOLATION AND OPERATION IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION, RISK OF INJURY TO CHILD — At 10:30 p.m., Daquan D. Moore, 18, of Rogers Road was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix on Wadsworth and West streets at excessive speed, according to the report, and went a full car's length past the stop sign, nearly hitting a police cruiser. The officer heard Moore revving the engine and saw him speed off onto Rogers Road, then stop in a driveway. Moore yelled to someone in the house, "C'mon, hurry up! Get the (expletive) out here!" police say, while there was a front passenger and juvenile in the back. The report says Moore told the officer, "you pulled me over because I'm a black man," adding he didn't do anything wrong. He had a box cutter affixed to a key chain on his pants, the report says, while he and the passenger were uncooperative with police.

Aug. 18

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE AND WHILE UNDER SUSPENSION — Around 5 a.m., Lori Labonet, 43, of Bar Will Road, Meriden, was driving a Mini Cooper at Newfield and Washington streets when an officer saw her swerve into the right-side bicycle lane, according to the report. Police say she asked the officer if he saw the car that had almost hit her.

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, ILLEGAL SALE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS (SECOND OFFENSE) AND LESS THAN A HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA, INTERFERING WITH AN OFFICER —  At 8:13 p.m., Tyrus L. Hines, 30, of Broad Street, Norwich, was on East Main Street, inside a car reported "overdue," according to the report, at 6:38 p.m. He had two outstanding warrants. A scale with cocaine residue was found and a drug-sniffing dog found 1.1 grams of crack cocaine in plastic bags in the driver's side door, according to the report, with a marijuana cigar. He had $2,500 in cash and admitted to police he was not employed. He is a convicted felon with four arrests including drug sales, the report details.

Aug. 11

OBTAINING DRUGS ILLEGALLY — At 4:50 p.m., Johnny Wilds, 44, of Burbunhill Lane turned himself in on an outstanding warrant. 

IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION, FAILURE TO HAVE HEADLAMPS — Around 7 a.m., Emmanuel Maldonado, 25, of Rose Circle was driving on Newfield Street with one headlight out, according to the report. 

Aug. 10

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 5:30 p.m., Robert T. Ryan, 50, of Madison Road, Durham, was stopped by North Branford Police during a motor vehicle stop and found with an active warrant from Middletown.

Aug. 9

VIOLATION OF PROBATION — At 5:24 p.m., Jermaine McCrea, 35, of Quinnipiac Avenue, New Haven, turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

Aug. 6

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At about 12:20 p.m., John Maher, 60, of Saybrook Road, who was driving a 1985 Honda motorcycle, was involved in a car accident on Main Street Extension, according to the report. He told police his bike has been uninsured for more than a year.
