Aug. 6

FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS, VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER — At 12:30 a.m., a female victim told police her ex-boyfriend, Brian D. Mathis, 19, of Hartland Street, Hartford, broke into her apartment and assaulted her, according to the report. Police, who asked the victim repeatedly if Mathis was in the apartment, were told no, yet he was found sleeping in her bed. He told officers the woman had called an invited him over, according to the report. She said she lied because she was afraid Mathis would return again if he found out she told officers. He has two outstanding warrants, police say, for third-degree assault, first-degree burglary, interfering with an emergency call and disorderly conduct.

TWO COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 9 p.m., Joseph E. Hills, 27, of Warwick Street turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

Aug. 4

DUI, FAILURE TO KEEP TO THE LEFT, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT A LICENSE — At 1:53 a.m., Leslie K. Shields, 44, of Maplewood Road, Southington, was involved in a two-car accident on Washington Street and appeared intoxicated, according to the report. He failed a sobriety test and refused to take a blood alcohol test, police say.

ILLEGAL SALE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE AND DISTRIBUTION WITHIN 1,500 FEET OF A SCHOOL, NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUGS NEAR SCHOOL, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA — At 10:55 p.m., Willie Watford, 24, of Airline Avenue, Portland, was on Pearl Street during an altercation with another man, the report says, both of whom fled the scene. Witnesses identified the men by description and Watford was found walking near Macdonough Elementary and seen throwing a baggie in the bushes and a scale found later, the report details. A search revealed two phones, $870 in cash and two bags with 11.6 grams of marijuana inside. Police say Watford served jail time for narcotics sales. 

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, FAILURE TO GRANT RIGHT OF WAY — At 11:48 p.m., Jared A. Corriveau, 35, of Laurel Street was involved in a car accident on South Main Street. According to police, a witness saw him drinking at Matty's Bar, driving fast and erratic and crash into another car. The report says Corriveau smelled of alcohol and failed sobriety tests.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE — At 3:01 p.m., John Nowotynski, 48, of Ross Road, Rockfall, was driving a Subaru Legacy on Pine near Poinsettia Street with a plate registered to a Mercury Milan. The report says he was previously arrested in March for a similar incident in that car with another plate.

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — At 6:37 p.m., Lanier Lumpkin, 33, of Foothills Way, Bloomfield, was driving at Washington Street and deKoven Drive.
