Middletown Arrests: Aug. 28 to Sept. 12

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

Sept. 12

FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 10:30 a.m., Shelby Johnson, 21, of Westfield Street turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.

Sept. 11

VIOLATION OF PROBATION — At 11:45 p.m., Carlos Ortiz, 50, of Saltonstall Avenue, New Haven, was stopped in his motor vehicle and found with an outstanding warrant from Port Jervis City, N.Y.

Sept. 10

DUI, STOP SIGN VIOLATION — At 12:48 a.m., Thomas A. Kardok Jr., 63, of Portland-Cobalt Road, Portland, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee at High and Spring streets, didn't stop for the sign, and when pulled over, the report says, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He told officers he was fishing and had a "couple beers," then failed a sobriety test. His blood alcohol content registered .100 and .098, the report indicates.

POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, DUI, NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUGS NEAR SCHOOL — At 5:53 p.m., police were called about a suspicious vehicle parked on Randolph Road and found Kyle Casner, 22, of Cedar Street, Ansonia, slumped over in the driver's seat with the engine running, according to the report, then awoke and was disorientated. Casner told officers he took a Seroquel and had red and glassy eyes and had trouble focusing on the conversation, and as he stepped out of the car, it rolled backward, according to the report. A putdown revealed a hypodermic needle sticking out of Casner's right front pocket and he admitted to there being a small amount of heroin and another needle in the car. A search revealed a metal spoon with white crusted residue, another metal object with the same residue, opened baggies and wax paper bags and a white substance, according to the report. Casner said he was wrong about the substance he took, adding it was Klonopin, and he had shot up heroin earlier in the day, the report indicates.

Sept. 9

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — At 6 p.m., Robert J. Wright, 46, of Freestone Avenue, Portland, was driving at Stack and Grove streets with a suspended license.

Sept. 7

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER, SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE THREATENING — At 9:27 p.m., Alexander L. Shambley, 41, of Woodbury Circle yelled, swore at and threatened his half-brother's son and mother, according to the report, then ran from police. He was found hiding under a car, police say, and gave a fake name and date of birth. A victim said at 8:30 p.m. she noticed $38 in cash missing from her dresser for her 11-year-old son's fundraiser and Shambley took the money saying the neighbor no longer wanted to contribute, according to the report. She called him and he swore and yelled at her but returned $23, saying he'd return the rest later, and pushed the child.

THIRD-DEGREE CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 10:18 p.m., Eric Bonvouloir Jr., 25, of Plaza Drive was involved in a verbal domestic argument with his mother and threw a toy at her while his wife and infant son were home, according to the report. Police say his mother fled the apartment to avoid an argument and Bonvouloir chased her into the parking lot and smashed the back window of her car, causing flying broken class to injure her face.

Sept. 6

VIOLATING RESTRAINING ORDER — At 4:04 p.m., Dawn Dorman, 30, of Willow Bee Lane was outside the home of a woman who had a restraining order against her, according to the report, and an officer saw her there.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 6:29 p.m., Emily M. Gagne, 19, of Woodbury Circle told police she was hit several times after a fight over electronics, according to the report. [Name Withheld] had a cut on her eyebrow, police say, after Emily punched her in the face in her bedroom. Both were charged.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At about 6 p.m., cousins Eddie Wicker, 61, and Christopher D. White, 18, both of Traverse Square fought inside their apartment, knocking over knickknacks, a table, candles and two fans after White yelled at and pushed Wicker, according to the report. Both were charged.

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE AND WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 6:29 p.m., Kenneth H. Ford Jr., 48, of Dobson Circle was driving a Mercury Sable on Rose Circle and when stopped said he knew his registration was suspended because he had been arrested Sept. 1 for the same reason, according to the report.

Aug. 29

FAILURE TO RESPOND — Kevin C. Gray, 22, of Prout Hill Road was brought in on an outstanding warrant.

Aug. 28

ILLEGAL USE OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA AND PARAPHERNALIA — At 10:06 p.m., Jalen Duncan, 18, of Berlin Street was driving an Acura RL at the M Mart on Newfield and Westfield streets with a plate registered to a Pontiac Grand Am, according to the report, while an unidentified young man got into the passenger seat, handed cash and a baggie of marijuana to him. When pulled over, the report says, Duncan was nervous, stammering and sweating profusely, and the car smelled of marijuana. He admitted to buying the pot, police say. A police canine found a marijuana grinder, $163 in cash, baggies of marijuana packaging and a cell phone that received constant texts for pot purchases. The report says Duncan told police he sold marijuana so as to not "financially burden" his mother.
