Middletown Arrests: May 29 to June 19
The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:
June 19
SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — At 9 p.m., police were called to the home of Shantel Brown, 20, of Flower Street, when she and her mother argued about Brown living at home and doing "nothing" all day, according to the report, while her mother works. The report says her mother came home to find Brown had packed her mother's bags full of her possessions to live with her father and left the apartment uncleaned so the mother took her clothing out and Brown punched her in the face several times and insulted her. Brown told police she was upset her mother was throwing clean clothing on the floor and her mother had punched her, but officers found no physical evidence to support that, according to the report. Brown's brother witnessed the fight and her mother told police she didn't want her daughter arrested, but wanted officers to talk to her to get her to respect her mother.

FAILURE TO RESPOND — At 6 p.m., Chassidy R. Gordon, 23, of Traverse Square was driving a Mazda 3 Series on East Main Street and found with an outstanding warrant from Connecticut State Police Troop G in Bridgeport.
ASSAULT PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER, BREACH OF PEACE — At 3:30 a.m., John H. Bartell, 43, of Rapallo Avenue was found at Price Chopper on Washington Street after police were looking for him for an incident at Middlesex Hospital.

FOUR COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 12:09 a.m., Todd Chaplin, 32, of Hubbard Street was a victim in a fight and found with four outstanding warrants from Berlin, Cromwell and Waterbury police.
June 18
BREACH OF PEACE, SECOND-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 7:20 p.m., Douglas C. Braelfort, 45, of Washington Street punched a victim repeatedly in the face and dragged him out the first-floor residents of an apartment on deKoven Drive, according to the report. Braelfort admitted to "having words" with the victim but denied any physical assault, however, police say the victim had a deep cut on his eye, multiple cuts on his face and a front took that had been knocked out. He was sent to the emergency room for treatment.
FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 8:15 a.m., Tammy Spears, 49, of Silver Street turned herself in on an outstanding warrant from Stamford Police.
June 17
SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 2 p.m., Joseph Roget, 53, of Santangelo Circle was found with an outstanding warrant.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 7:30 p.m., Vance Spath, 26, of Northwoods Lane turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.
June 15
DUI, FAILURE TO DRIVE IN PROPER LANE — At 3:15 a.m., Thomas J. Gorcyca, 38, of Muir Avenue, Bristol, was in a car accident at Saybrook and Toll Gate roads in which he ran his Saturn Vue off the roadway into a ditch, according to the report. The car was heavily damaged, police say, with multiple air bags deployed while Gorcyca was standing next to the car seemingly unhurt. He told officers he had a beer at Matt's on South Main Street earlier and failed a sobriety test. His blood alcohol levels were .149 and .146.
June 13
FOUR COUNTS SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR, FAILURE TO RESPOND, — Andreas C. Guliani, 22, of Farm Lane, Portland, was driving a Honda Accord on Main and Grand Streets without a front license plate. The report says he accelerated when trying to evade a police cruiser. He has five outstanding warrants, police say, from Middletown, Portland and state police. A search revealed a marijuana grinder. His original charges were operating a motor vehicle under suspension, driving while using a cell phone, and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
THREE COUNTS FAILURE TO REGISTER AS NON-VIOLENT SEX OFFENDER — At 8 p.m., Glenn J. Davis Jr., 26, of Sears Street turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.
IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE — At 10:38 p.m., Louie J. Wescott, 29, of Edgewood Court, Middlefield, was driving a Nissan Maxima on South Main Street without a front license plate and the rear one belonging on a Honda Civic, according to the report. He told police her bought the car four days before and borrowed the plate from a friend.
June 12
OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO HAVE STOP LAMPS — At 8:12 a.m., Jorge J. Tomas, 46, of Blueberry Lane, Seymour, was driving on Washington Street near Wetmore Place with non-working brake lights.
June 9
IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 8:09 p.m., Kelli Walden, 36, of Walnut Street was driving an Infinity on Long Lane with a plate belonging to a Subaru Legacy, according to the report.
THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — At 2:30 p.m., Jalen Manzie, 18, of Plaza Drive was found by police on Long Hill Road with an outstanding warrant.
June 8
FAILURE TO WEAR SAFETY BELT IN FRONT SEAT, OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 10 a.m., James E. Austin, 17, of Chestnut Street was driving a Jeep Cherokke on deKoven Drive without a seat belt.
June 6
USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — At 9:48 p.m., Tammy Franco, 43, of Labella Circle was a passenger in a car when police were called about a woman fighting with a man in a Chevrolet 3500 pickup at Grand and Pearl streets, according to the report. Two open beer containers were found in the car, the report says, and the driver, John E. Folkman, 50, of Saybrook Road, said they belonged to the women, one of whom was his girlfriend. Inside Franco's purse were 14 loose prescription pills: antidepressants, hypertension meds, a hypodermic needle and heroin and crack cocaine paraphernalia, according to the report. She told police she rarely used the purse and forgot those items were inside. Franco was charged with the above and Folkman with operation of a motor vehicle when license suspended and when unregistered; improper use of marker plate and insurance coverage fails minimum.
May 29
FAILURE TO CARRY CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — At 6:13 p.m., Edward Young, 45, of Greenway Stree, Hamden, was at Melilli Plaza and Washington Street driving a car belonging to his deceased mother.
