Middletown Community Mourns Sudden Passing of 8th Grader
Woodrow Wilson Middle School student Jose Trinidad collapsed at a school event.

Jose Trinidad was a caring person and a kind friend. He always had a smile for everyone. His principal, Cheryl Gonzales of Woodrow Wilson Middle School, shared that sentiment on the school website after Trinidad’s sudden passing.
On Thursday, Feb. 18, Trinidad was celebrating with his basketball teammates at the school when he collapsed, the Hartford Courant reports.
The school nurse was on scene and provided medical assistance to Trinidad. He was transported to Middlesex Hospital, where he passed away, according to WFSB.

Students honored Trinidad by wearing black clothing and marking their hands with the number 44, the number from Trinidad’s jersey.
Counseling for students was available on Friday and will also take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the school on Saturday, Feb. 20.
