Middletown Cops Investigating Monday Night Stabbing

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A person was stabbed in Middletown on Monday night, police said.
At 9:11 p.m., Middletown Officers were called to the area of 188 Pearl Street for the report of an assault. A Middletown Fire Department crew had initially responded to the area for a medical call involving a head injury but, during their assessment, responders determined that the man was stabbed on the top of his head, according top an incident report.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Trenton Hoggard of Middletown. Hoggard was transported to Hartford Hospital for non-life threatening lacerations to his head, police said.

According to an incident report, Hoggard told police that he was walking on Grand Street when someone came up behind and stabbed him on the top of the head. Hoggard felt himself get stabbed a second time and ran south on Pearl Street before stopping in the area of 188 Pearl Street, where a local resident called 911, according to an incident report.
The case remained an active investigation late Tuesday morning, and police said anyone with information on the incident can contact them at 860-638-4000, Ext. 6318.

Police said the incident is believed to be an isolated one with "no known public safety concerns."
