Middletown Goes Electric For City-Owned Cars To Cut Gas Costs
The city bought six electric cars for employees to use.

Middletown, CT - Middletown is going green and upgrading its car fleet to reduce spending on gas and lessen its carbon footprint.
MIDDLETOWN, CT -- Middletown recently bought six Ford Focus Electric cars for its staff, according to a report in The Hartford Courant.
Each new car, according to the report, will save the city close to $700 per year in gas costs.

Through a state grant, the city received $115,000 to help make the purchase of the new Fords, and install charging stations, The Courant reports.
According to the report, the electric cars should save Middletown close to $90K over the next decade. The cars are being used by city employees to drive around Middletown for work duties.
