Middletown Man Nabbed on Assault, Misdemeanor Sex Assault Charges
A complainant told police resident Darren Bellamy sexually touched her and assaulted her last week.

Middletown police have charged a local man with sexual assault and assault stemming from complaint lodged with police last week.
Darren Bellamy, 32, 14 Hubbard St., Middletown, was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, interfering with an officer and a failure to comply for fingerprinting after police said they responded to a call at the Citgo gas station on South Main Street on Oct. 8 around 2:38 a.m.
At the gas station police said they spoke with the a victim who told them Bellamy was at her house earlier that evening, between 9 and 10 p.m., where she said Bellamy physically and sexually assaulted her. The victim gave a written statement of the account and brought the officers to Bellamy’s home.
Bellamy admitted to being at the victim’s home but denied touching her. Based on the victim’s statement and corroborating evidence, Bellamy was taken into custody and held on a $25,000 bond. Police said he was uncooperative while being processed at police headquarters.
Bellamy was due in Middlesex Superior Court on Oct. 8.
