Movie Screening In Middletown Highlights The American Chestnut Tree

The Rockfall Foundation is hosting the free movie screening at the deKoven House in September.

MIDDLETOWN, CT – The Rockfall Foundation is bringing awareness to the American Chestnut Tree through a free film screening.

The “Clear Day Thunder: Rescuing the American Chestnut” screening will be at The Rockfall Foundation – deKoven House, 27 Washington St., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 21.

“Clear Day Thunder: Rescuing the American Chestnut” is a new documentary telling the story of passionate citizen scientists and researchers working to restore the ecologically and economically important species.

At the turn of the 20th century, a deadly blight accidentally imported into the U.S. from Asia devastated the American Chestnut. Within a span of only two generations, the tree was nearly extinct.

The Film screening is in partnership with the American Chestnut Foundation, Friends of Indian Hill Cemetery, Middletown Garden Club and The Rockfall Foundation.
