Obituary: Rodney Francis Roush, 63, of Middletown

Rodney, the definition of the word family man, dedicated over 30 years of his career to Krause Caterers as a baker and chef.

MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Rodney Francis Roush, 63, of Middletown beloved husband of Susan (Guerrette) Roush died peacefully Sunday October 31, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital with his family by his side.

Rodney was born in Hartford Hospital son of the late Michael J. Roush and Blanch Marguerite (Sudac) Roush. He graduated from Penney High school in 1976 and received his Culinary Arts Degree at Johnson and Wales College.

He dedicated over 30 years of his career to Krause Caterers as a Baker and Chef which was in the backyard of his childhood home.

While Rodney worked, his sons frequently stayed with his mother at his childhood home where they would meet at the fence to get fresh cookies from the bakery he had just baked.

He was an avid woodworker with an eye for perfection as seen in all of his projects.

Whether it was finishing a basement, remodeling a deck and patio, laying wood flooring, landscaping or building a treehouse for his boys, everything was always done out of love for his family.

His love and passion for baseball, bowling and cars was shared by his two sons. He spent his springs, summers and falls with the boys playing baseball and every Sunday morning of winter with them was many hours of bowling.

Rodney would smile ear to ear every time he opened a new pack of baseball cards with his sons over his shoulder which were a common gift by sons for his birthdays and Christmas.

Rodney’s favorite vacation spots with his family included Wildwood New Jersey, Emerald Isle North Carolina with his very close high school friends and their family’s and most recently, Block Island with his loving wife Susan.

Rodney loved taking weekend drives around the state with his wife and lounging with her in their pool. He loved sitting on the front porch with his wife or his sons talking and simply enjoying time together.

Rodney frequently surprised Susan with flower and new jewelry for any reason he could spoil his wife.

Rodney was the definition of the word family man. He was loving, caring, cool, calm and collected at all times. The love and support he showed his family and friends through every step of life will be remembered by all until the end of time.

Besides his wife Susan, Rodney is survived by two sons, Michael Roush of Middletown, Brian Roush of Mansfield, a brother Martin Roush and his wife Jeanne of Arizona as well as many other very close friends and family members.

Funeral services will be held Friday November 5th at 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home 3 Silver Street Middletown.

Friends may gather prior to the service from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Children’s Cancer Foundation.
