Obituary: Sebastian Vecca, 77, of Middletown
Sebastian was a long time supervisor at Middlesex Hospital and was a decorated U.S. Army veteran, previously serving in the Vietnam War.
MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Sebastian Vecca, 77, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 6, 2021.
He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth of 27 years. Sebastian was born in Middletown on December 20, 1943. He was the son of the late Anthony and Wanda (Schultz) Vecca, Sr.
Sebastian retired from Middlesex Hospital in 1996 as a supervisor. He was a Vietnam veteran during the period November 1967 to November 1968.
He received the Army Commendation Medal for exceptional meritorious service in the support of the Allies counterinsurgency operations in the Republic of Vietnam.
He was with the 11th Infantry Brigade (Jungle Warriors), Republic of Vietnam.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth, he is survived by his daughter, Gina and husband Scott Thomas of Middletown; their children, Liana, and Cassidy; son, Todd Vecca of Cromwell; brother, Anthony Vecca, Jr. and wife Marcia of East Hampton and their son Anthony; daughter-in-law, Jill Vecca and their two daughters, Hope and Grace; his stepdaughter, Paula and her husband Paul of Portland and their daughter Juliet; his stepdaughter, Lisa and her husband Jim Haslam of North Carolina and their daughter Elizabeth; his stepdaughter, Lydia and her husband Greg of North Carolina and their sons Christopher and John; his stepdaughter, Michele and her husband Alan of North Carolina and their children Jessica and Joshua.
He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Sebastian lived at Riversedge in Middletown where he was involved with the social committee. He planned and arranged many functions.
He managed at Riversedge a water aerobic class at the pool once a week. The ladies admired his vigorated energy and his kind interactions with them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 13th at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, Washington St. Middletown.
Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Friends and family may pay respect on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
