PD: Pot Smoking Man Causes Apartment Bong Blaze
Middletown firefighters investigating the fire smelled marijuana in the refrigerator. Police confiscated a large baggie of the drug.

A Middletown man whose marijuana bong ignited a blaze in his apartment was cited for possession of marijuana after police found a big baggie of pot in his refrigerator, according to police.
On July 24 at 8:54 p.m., firefighters were called to a home on Markham Street for a fire and alerted police that there were either drugs or paraphernalia present that caused the fire, according to the report.
Joshua Souza, 36, of Markham Street, according to the report, was found with a glass smoking bowl and looked nervous and evasive when questioned, but eventually admitted he smoked marijuana "on occasion."

While Souza couldn't explain the fire's cause, during a walk through of the apartment, police say, they found areas significantly damaged by smoke and fire. Firefighters smelled marijuana coming from inside the refrigerator near the fire. Inside, they found a large plastic bag with 37.5 grams of marijuana inside and Souza said it was for his personal use, police said.
He was written a ticket for possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana.
