PD: Man Had Twinkies, Chocolates, Lollipops Loaded With Marijuana

A Rhode Island man stopped for a traffic violation turned out to be selling cakes, chocolates and lollipops laced with marijuana, according to Middletown Police.

On Sept. 25 at 8:12 p.m., Michael R. Mikolinski, 23, of Town Farm Road, Coventry, R.I., was driving a Subaru Forester on Pine Street with a broken tail light ahead of a police officer. 

Once stopped, according to the report, Mikolinski was extremely nervous and evasive and the officer smelled marijuana inside the car and saw him trying to hide something in his pocket which turned out to be a "jelly-like" container with .28 ounces of hash oil inside.

The report says Mikolinski insisted there was no other contraband in the car, but a police canine found a backpack in the back with five bags of marijuana totaling 6.33 ounces. According to the report, there was a black cooler with 20 small and 15 miniature bell-shaped pieces of chocolate wrapped in foil and on ice which smelled overwhelmingly of marijuana. 

Mikolinski told detectives his mother made the chocolate and he had just picked it up in Cheshire, and the total weight was 18.94 ounces. A jar of hash oil weighing 8.66 ounces was found, along with seven lollipops weighing 1.47 ounces and two dozen "Twinkies," the report indicates, with marijuana inside that his mother had made totaling 91.71 ounces.

A further search revealed 40 ampules of liquid marijuana called tinctures weighing 109.6 ounces. Police say the street value of all the items confiscated was $7,500. A canine found $3,526 in cash inside his pockets, the report says, although Mikolinski insisted his mother gave him the money to pay his rent. 

According to the report, Mikolinski told police his mother had baked him marijuana "Twinkies," made him marijuana chocolates and gave him thousands of dollars in cash wrapped in bunches with rubber bands. 

The search turned up a cell phone, the report says, with multiple texts of people asking for marijuana to buy from between $250 and $300, and included responses from him saying he was coming to Middletown to sell the items.

He was charged with failure to have tail lamps, use of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and with intent to sell.
