Pet And Garden Center Chain With Long History Closing In Middlefield
A pet and garden supply chain with deep roots in Middlefield — and Connecticut — is shuttering all its stores.

MIDDLEFIELD, CT — Middlefield and central Connecticut are losing a garden and pet supply store whose roots can be traced back four decades.
Final sales were to begin Tuesday at all Connecticut and western Massachusetts Smithland Pet & Garden Centers — formerly known as myAgway and Dave's Soda and Pet City.
No definitive reasoning was offered in the announcement, but the declaration was not devoid of emotion.
