Route 17 On Ramp In Middletown Set To Close For Reconstruction
Connecticut DOT stated the Southbound Route 17 on-ramp from Main Street Extension will be temporarily closed for ramp reconstruction.

MIDDLETOWN, CT – As Route 17 and 9 Middletown Project begins, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has released a construction update.
According to Connecticut DOT, on or about July 28, the Southbound Route 17 on Ramp from the Main Street extension will be temporarily closed to allow for ramp reconstruction.
The new ramp will be shifted to align with the off-ramp on the opposite side of the Main Street extension.

The ramp is expected to reopen in November 2023.
CTDOT stated motorists are advised to follow detour signs and allow extra travel time. Pedestrian detours may be used to direct foot traffic around the work area.

According to CTDOT, the reconfiguration of the Route 17 on Ramp to Route 9 Northbound project in Middletown is an initiative to improve safety and reduce front-to-rear crashes at the Route 17 Northbound and Harbor Drive entrances to Route 9 Northbound.
