Science Safety Workshops for Teachers in Middletown

Workshops are sponsored by the Connecticut Science Safety Network in association with the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency and Wesleyan University.

Want to make sure your school has the safest science labs and classrooms that meet all the federal regulations? The Project to Increase Mastery of Mathematics and Science (PIMMS, now located at the Green Street Arts Center) will be hosting several science safety workshops for teachers and administrators this year.

All districts in Connecticut are welcome to register.

Our instructor is Dr. Ken Roy of Glastonbury Public Schools. Dr. Roy is an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration instructor, science safety consultant for the National Science Teachers Association, and a safety editor and columnist.

The first workshop will be on Monday, September 9th from 9am – 12pm (check in with refreshments at 8:30am). This workshop will focus on Science Lab Safety, Security and Liability - everything you need to know for your science lab. The training is required by OSHA for new science teachers and is a great refresher for veteran science teachers.

Registration is required and there is a fee to attend. The valuable safety information you'll receive is certain to be worth the cost. You can register online at the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency website under "Training and Education Programs."
Please call the PIMMS office with any questions about payment at 860-685-6454.
