St. Mary's Ladies Guild Strawberry Festival a Rousing Success
All the money raised from this much-anticipated pre-summer event goes to the church guild's scholarship fund and other Middletown projects throughout the year.
After spending more than half a day making strawberry shortcakes, Terry Dykas, president of the St. Mary of Czestochowa Church Ladies Guild, is exhausted.
In a good way.
"It was extremely successful," Dykas told Middletown Patch by phone at home following the festival. "We sold more than we expected." In fact, she's not even going to tally the number of biscuits and quarts of strawberries until tomorrow — after she's recovered from her busy day.
Last year, the guild cut up 200 quarts of fresh native strawberries and doled out untold heaping spoonfuls of freshly whipped cream.
All proceeds benefit the Ladies Guild scholarship fund and the other good work projects they do throughout the year.
