Summer at Russell Library: Read a Book, Write a Blurb, Win Fabulous Prize

This summer, your beach reads can earn you a chance to win an array of prizes simply by writing a brief review of your favorite books.

The goal of Middletown's Russell Library adult summer reading program, according to Chris Angeli, head of circulation services, is to encourage more adults to frequent the library and pass the power of reading onto their children, friends and family.

Anyone 18 or older with a Russell Library card can register at the circulation desk and write up to two short reviews per week — and be entered into a drawing to win gift cards for Middletown restaurants, coffee shops, salons, and more; jewelry and artwork by staff and Downtown Business District certificates.

Angeli says drawings are weekly throughout July. "The goal is to get more people into the library." she says. "There will be a display in the lobby for handwritten reviews (without names) and some we'll copy onto our Facebook page."

"We hear a lot about children's summer reading programs. We hope this is a fun way to encourage adults to keep reading over the summer and be a good role model for their kids and family members."

Sponsors include: Iron Scissors Salon & Spa, Malloves Jewelers, It's Only Natural, Fusion Bakery & Patisserie, Klekolo World Coffee, Middletown YMCA and Jason Neely Photography.
