Bank Robbery Results in Arrest of R.I. Man

Robert Chadronet allegedly stole $2,000 from Westbrook Citizens Bank. He was arrested previously for an alleged bank robbery in Milford.

On March 3, 2016, a federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging Robert Chadronet, 38, of Rumford, R.I., with one count of bank robbery.

The indictment alleges that on August 27, 2015, Chadronet used force, violence and intimidation to rob $2,329 from a branch of Citizens Bank located at 1187 Boston Post Road in Westbrook, according to a written release from Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Chadronet appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert A. Richardson in Hartford on Thursday, March 17, and entered a plea of not guilty to the charge. He has been detained since September 10, 2015, when he was arrested on state charges related to a bank robbery that occurred in Milford on August 18, 2015.

If convicted of the charge, Chadronet faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of an undisclosed amount. He is currently on federal supervised release for a prior bank robbery conviction.

The investigation is ongoing.

Daly stressed that an indictment is not evidence of guilt. Charges are only allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
