Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Lead To Flood Advisory, Watch For Southern Connecticut
The National Weather Service said some areas could see up to four inches of rain. Here is when the heavy rain moves in.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — A flood advisory is in effect for Fairfield County until 4:15 p.m. while a flood watch is in effect for all of southern Connecticut from 8 p.m. Sunday through Monday afternoon.

"At 208 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms," the National Weather Service said. "This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.

"Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Portions of the area are under a flash flood warning."

"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

"Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move across the watch area this evening, continuing into the first half of Monday. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches will be possible with localized amount of 3 to 4 inches possible. These rainfall totals may result in flash flooding of urban and low lying areas.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 70. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Monday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Monday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Northwest wind around 7 mph.
