Milford $4.67M Sewer Improvement Bonding Approved By Board Of Finance

The proposed sewer improvements will benefit Athletic Brewing Company, and the popular brewer has agreed to pay debt service.

MILFORD, CT — The Board of Finance authorized $4.675 million in bonds to pay for sewer and wastewater facility upgrades. The matter will head to the Board of Aldermen.

The upgrades will allow Athletic Brewing Company to obtain an enhanced permit, and the popular non-alcoholic brewer has agreed to pay debt service on the bonds, Mayor Ben Blake said, according to meeting minutes.

Bonding provided about half of the funds necessary for the improvement, with the rest coming through American Rescue Plan Act funds, Blake said.

Sewer consultants indicated that enhancements would be required at some point in the future regardless of whether Athletic Brewing was in the area, City Attorney Jonathan Berchem said. The city benefits by doing the project now, since the company will pay for debt service.
