Milford Gunpoint Carjacking Suspect Charged: PD

The victim posted a vehicle for sale on Offer Up and was carjacked at gunpoint during a meet-up, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A man was charged with stealing a vehicle at gunpoint during a sale Dec. 3, according to police.

The victim told police that they posted his vehicle for sale on Offer Up and scheduled to meet up with a potential buyer. A man arrived on foot and the two went for a test drive around the block.

The man parked in the area of 3 Maple St. and discussed the price of the vehicle, but then pulled out a handgun and placed the barrel to the victim's head, police said. The victim exited the car and the suspect fled east on Maple Street.

Officers recovered the vehicle Dec. 15 and Nathan Akinola, 18, was in possession of it, police said. It was later determined that Akinola was a suspect in the carjacking.

Akinola was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant, Jan. 23. He was charged with first-degree robbery and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
