Milford Mayor Ben Blake Intends To Step Down, Nominated For Judgeship
Longtime Milford Mayor Ben Blake intends to step down as mayor in the near future. He was nominated for a judgeship by Gov. Ned Lamont.

MILFORD, CT — Longtime Mayor Ben Blake announced that he intends to step down as mayor in the near future after being nominated by Gov. Ned Lamont to become an administrative law judge for the state Workers' Compensation Commission.
Blake said he is humbled by Lamont's confidence and trust and that he intends to focus on a stable transition of administration in Milford.
"The legislature is expected to act upon the nomination before adjourning its session on June 7, 2023, and once confirmed, I intend to step down as Milford’s mayor to accept this new public service position," Blake said. "Until that time, my focus is to ensure a stable and seamless transition of administrations so that Milford continues to be soundly governed."

Blake has been Milford's mayor for the past 12 years.
"With the help of our residents, employees, and volunteers, we have achieved unprecedented economic expansion, advanced our City schools, developed world-class recreational amenities, and rebuilt critical public infrastructure – all while cutting taxes and reducing the City’s mill rate for each of the past seven consecutive years," he said.
