Milford Schools To Cut Staff Positions Amid Budget Woes: Report
The district is dealing with a shortfall after city boards approved $1.3 million in cuts to its proposed budget.

MILFORD, CT — The Board of Education will cut 14 staff positions to cover the cost of reductions from its proposed budget for the 2025-26 school year, according to Hearst Connecticut Media.
The board voted on Monday on the $1.3 million in cuts. The budget reductions came after a narrow Board of Aldermen vote approved a reduction of that amount to the school's requested budget, Hearst Connecticut Media reported.
The positions that will be eliminated include nine teachers, an administrator, two secretaries, and two custodians.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna Cutaia said at the time that the proposal already addressed financial challenges and essentially maintained the district's current level of services.
"The increase we requested could be categorized primarily as a move forward budget," she said. "It responded to increases outside our control. Any reductions to the request, and especially the large one made (by the Board of Finance), will definitely impact staff and students."
