Milford Student Wins Eversource Energy Award at Invention Convention

Aiden Day received an award for his "Lights Out" invention at the 33rd annual Connecticut Invention Convention.

Aiden Day, a student at Harborside Middle School in Milford, has won an Eversource Energy Award at the 33rd annual Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC). Day's invention, "Lights Out," is a hinge-style switch that turns the lights in a room or closet on or off with the opening or closing of a door and helps to conserve electricity.

A team of judges from Eversource reviewed more than 825 inventions created by students in fourth through eighth grades in order to select recipients for the Eversource Energy Award. Winners were selected based on four criteria: generation of power, conservation of electricity, use of green technology as an energy source and electrical safety.
