State Representatives Kim Rose, D-Milford, and Rosa C. Rebimbas, R-Naugatuck, are pleased to be leading the legislature’s Women’s Caucus with bipartisan ideas that will advance women-related issues in the General Assembly.
The group is already making strides supporting important events and sponsoring legislation that is bringing many of the 54 female legislators closer as they seek to do the people’s work in the legislature.

As part of the group’s program, the women recognized Rep. Themis Klarides for being elected Connecticut’s first female Minority Leader at a reception attended by several colleagues, including Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.
“I am delighted to see our group is moving forward. Identifying our strengths and recognizing the need to work together is critical to advancing our mission to make a difference,” Rep. Rose said.

“By working together the Women’s Caucus has identified and committed to championing important legislation and making a positive difference in the community,” Rep. Rebimbas said. “I look forward to continuing our progress as the legislative session draws to a close, and well into the future.”
On Friday, as the House is in session, the Women’s Caucus will “dress down” for charity. Legislators, staff and guests are encouraged to show their support by wearing turquoise in solidarity with the American Lung Association and their Lung Force Campaign and purple for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation to help raise awareness of these afflictions. Donations of $5 and $10 for dressing “down” or “up” will be accepted to benefit both organizations. Lung cancer is the No. 1 cancer killer of women in the United States.
In addition, the group has stated their full support of two proposals - H.B. #6849, An Act Strengthening Protections for Victims of Human Trafficking and S.B. #904, An Act Establishing the Connecticut Women Veterans’ Program.
Rep. Rose is serving her third term at the state legislature and Rep. Rebimbas who was elected in a special election in 2009, is serving her 4th term.
