Obituary: Carmela Ann (Magarone) Micik, 92, of Milford
Carmela held various manufacturing, domestic and caregiver positions. She was a devout Catholic and cherished time with her loved ones.
MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Carmela Ann (Magarone) Micik, age 92, of Milford, CT, passed away on February 12, 2022 at the Jewish Senior Services facility in Bridgeport, surrounded by her loving daughters.
She was the beloved wife of the late William Micik. Carmela was born in Greenwich, CT on November 5, 1929 to the late Dominick and Angelina (Capuano) Magarone.
Carmela graduated from Greenwich High School in 1949. After her marriage to husband William in 1951, they resided in Stamford until 1992 when they moved to Milford, CT to be closer to her grandsons.
She had various manufacturing, domestic, and caregiver positions. Carmela was a devout Catholic and had a strong faith.
She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, viewing old movies, Italian music, Mets baseball games, and attending her grandsons’ sports.
Carmela enjoyed cooking and baking Italian meals and was known for her homemade apple pies, anisette cookies, meatballs and stuffed cabbage.
Carmela is survived by her daughters; Susan (Paul) Slattery of Milford, CT and Angela Micik of Crandall, GA; two grandsons Matthew (Laura) Slattery of New Canaan, CT and David (Agata) Slattery of Trumbull, CT; three great granddaughters, Autumn, Izabella, and Natalia, many beloved nieces and nephews, and longtime friends Millie Dorazio and Marguerite Politano.
In addition to her husband, Carmela was predeceased by her brothers; Rocco (Stella) Magarone and Michael Magarone and sisters Rose Magarone, Louise (John) Micik, and Viola (Nicholas) Lagronegro.
The family would like to thank the staff of Jewish Senior Services, Bridgeport, CT for the love and care they provided Carmela.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD STREET, MILFORD, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Mary Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford, CT.
Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Connecticut Chapter), 200 Executive Blvd., S #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
