Obituary: Joanne C. Strait, 81, formerly of Milford
Joanne worked as a bookkeeper at Measurement Systems in Fairfield, was a member of Mensa and was an avid international traveler.
MILFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Joanne C. Strait, 81, of East Berlin, formerly of Milford, passed away August 19, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital.
She was born in Kearny. New Jersey on July 9, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (McElrath) Rieger.
She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper at Measurement Systems in Fairfield. She earned an associate degree from Gateway Community College.
She was a member of Mensa and enjoyed international travel during her retirement. She was a long-time member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in West Haven.
She is survived by her son, Donald Strait and his wife, Allison, of Madison; her grandchildren Emma, Donald (Junior) and Max Strait; and her sisters Jean Rich of Ledgewood, NJ and Virginia Pope of Wallingford. She was predeceased by her sisters Eileen Crane and Doris Augur.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 28 Church St, West Haven on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10 am. Interment will follow in the church Memorial Garden.
