Obituary: Nancy A. Bates, 85, of Milford

Nancy enjoyed a long career as a machinist. She loved the outdoors, gardening and spending time with friends and family.

MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Nancy A. Bates, 85, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Richard Bates, passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2022. She was born on March 21, 1936 in Derby.

Nancy graduated from Derby High. She and her late husband Richard enjoyed boating and camping around CT with their camper and vacationing in Maine while visiting family and friends.

She loved the outdoors, gardening, and taking care of her home which she resided for the past 48 years.

She worked as a machinist her whole life and retired from her work at The Lighting Quotient in West Haven after 30 years at the young age of 81.

After retirement she enjoyed doing puzzles and being with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Nancy leaves behind her sons, Allen Bates, Stephen Bates, and Brian (Paula) Bates; grandson, Jeremy (Allison) Bates; a great granddaughter, Amelia and one more on the way. She was predeceased by her son, Roger Bates; and her siblings.

Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Graveside Service will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 477 Howe Ave., Shelton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
