MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Patricia J. Mahon, 78, of Milford, beloved wife of 52 years to Ray Mahon, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2021. Born on May 4, 1943 in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Gladys Kostzewski.

Patty was a lifelong Milford resident who served the city of Milford as a professional educator throughout her adult life. She and Ray met as colleagues at Point Beach School in 1966 and were married for 52 glorious years.

She is remembered by her students as a “beautiful teacher who had passion for her profession, caring for her students on their best day and held their hands on their worst days. She made the world a better place for her 1st grade students on a daily basis.”

She was selfless with her students as well as her family, focusing all of her energy on raising her three children, Tara, Sean and Mark. Patty was the consummate educator, but her love for her family was unmatched.

After her retirement from teaching in 2008, she and Ray spent half of the year in Florida playing pickleball, golf and creating life-long friendships, but they always returned to their roots in Milford during the summer months.

Their grandchildren, Kyle, Jack, Grace, Lance and Quinn, were the apples of Grammys’ eye and she was truly in her element watching them learn, grow, playing sports and performing in their school plays. She was also a strong supporter of her only-brother’s children and great niece, Amy, Jill and Emma, and loved celebrating every Christmas Eve with the extended family.

Along with her husband, Patricia leaves behind her loving children, Tara (Jarrod) Greenspan, Sean (Anna) Mahon, and Mark Mahon; cherished grandchildren, Kyle Greenspan, Jack Greenspan, Grace Mahon, Lance Mahon, and Quinn Mahon; brother, Ted (Dawn) Kostzewski; nieces, Amy Kostzewski Sakowicz and Jill Kostzewski Perkins; great niece, Emma Sakowicz; and many friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish), 70 Gulf St., Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH).
