Obituary: William Rainey

William Rainey, an aircraft technician at Sikorsky for many years, died at the age of 72.

William B. Rainey, age 72, of West Haven and formerly of Milford, beloved husband of Lorraine Trowbridge Rainey for 41 years, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Bill was born in Milford on February 23rd, 1953 to Joan Rainey of Milford and the late David B. Rainey. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Sikorsky until his retirement in 2017. Earlier in life, he worked at Stan’s Mobile in Milford, where he made many lifelong friends. He was a graduate of Milford High School, Platt Sikorsky Satellite School for Aviation in 1990 (During which time he had the honor of working on a WWII flying boat) and college of Aeronautics in 1995. He was the proud owner of a 1956 red and white Chevy Belair, receiving many trophies over the 50 years he owned it.

Bill was a hardworking man and one of his greatest accomplishments was earning his black belt in karate in 2022. With special thanks to Adam, Eddie and Alberto.

Survivors, in addition to the love of his life Lorry, include his son, Chad Rainey of West Haven, brothers, Stephen Rainey (Barbara) of Milford and Kevin Rainey (Laura) of FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill is predeceased by two brothers, Robert and David Rainey. Services will be private. The Gregory Doyle Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
