MILFORD, CT — As the 2023 municipal elections get closer in Milford, there are plenty of races with candidates who are eager to serve in elected office.

Bob Tschilske, 73, is running for a seat on the Board of Education in Milford to represent the 2nd District as a Republican candidate.

Tschilske has a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Organizational Management. He works as a quality systems auditor/consultant and has more than 45 years of experience in manufacturing.

Tschilske is widowed with two stepchildren and three grandchildren.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

No.

Why are you seeking this office?

I believe that my experience in the analysis of Quality Systems and the generation of continuous improvement, using Quality Management principles such as the Process Approach, Relationship Management, and Evidence-Based Decision Making, will be helpful in assisting the Milford Board of Education in the achievement of their Mission, Vision, and Commitment Statements.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is __, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The lack of ability to reach consensus among people of opposing viewpoints has prevented meaningful discussion and forward progress. My experience in Management will allow me to achieve solid results.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My extensive experience in Process Development and Relationship Management will allow me to serve as an agent for positive change.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

Measurables for the assessment of positive progress are lacking. I believe I can change that.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Fiscal responsibility in the budgeting process.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Management responsibility for up to 45 people, and development and control of 7 figure budgets.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Don't give up when things get tough.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have enjoyed being a resident of Milford since 1987 and am looking forward to the opportunity to make a positive contribution.
