What is your occupation?

Non-profit and strategic consultant.

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

Single mom of one.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

I have been serving as an Alderman serving Milford's First District since 2019.

Prior to moving back to my home state of Connecticut in 2010, I was appointed by Colorado's governor to be a Judicial Commissioner.

Why are you seeking this office?

Representing the residents of Milford's First District has been deeply inspiring. I have worked hard to be responsive to our constituents and to build consensus on both sides of the aisle so that we can do what is best for our city. There is still more to be accomplished and I would be honored to be given the opportunity to continue this important effort.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The most pressing issue facing our community is affordability. I have spoken with many new retirees who are concerned about their ability to stay in Milford due to the rising costs we are all experiencing. Part of our role on the Board of Aldermen is to be fiscal guardians of the city's budget. We need to ensure that our municipal infrastructure (including public safety) is properly resourced, while encouraging a robust business climate and holding the line on taxes.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am the only female candidate running in the First District and one of only three women serving on the fifteen member Board of Aldermen. Studies show that more balance in this area improves a local government body's decision-making capabilities and prioritizing which benefits its residents.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

  • Chairwoman of the Board of Aldermen Ordinance Committee
  • Committed additional resources to our schools, fire department, police department and seniors during last budget cycle.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

The best advice I was "given" was by watching my parents. They each started out as teachers but later ran their own small businesses. They led by example, worked hard, were very ethical, and were generous with their time and energy, which they lent to various individuals and organizations. What I learned: Work hard, be fair-minded, give your time in service to others.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Aldermen - I would be honored to have your vote on Tuesday November 7th!
