River Street Wednesdays Returns to Milford

The program will take place Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. from June 8 through Aug. 24.

The City of Milford and Milford Arts Council are thrilled to announce the second year for River Street Wednesdays. The 2016 program will take place every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. on the parkette in front of City Hall from Wednesday, June 8 to Wednesday, Aug. 24.

“River Street Wednesdays is a way for the community to connect and enjoy each other, to get people moving and create a rousing mid-day downtown. We encourage everyone to come down with a picnic lunch and enjoy Milford and everything it has to offer,” said Mayor Blake.

The Wednesday events will be complimented by Open Mic Nights from Friday, July 8 through July 8th through Friday, Aug. 12 at the Milford Arts Council. The winner will perform at the Annual Milford Oyster Festival in August. The season of arts and community will end with a grand finale at the Fall MAC Fest on the Green scheduled for Monday, Sept. 17. September 17th. “The events are eclectic and entertaining meant to highlight many of the activities and beauty of Milford as well as create a community place for an underutilized park in the heart of our City,” said Paige Miglio, executive director for the Milford Arts Council and Julie Nash, economic and community development director for the City of Milford, the event organizers.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair as well as a picnic lunch. The downtown area has a number of restaurants where a bag lunch can be purchased. A full list of restaurants and shops to visit before and after the event is available through the Downtown Milford Business Association website.
