State Names 7 Milford Schools Among Top Performers

The recognition highlights schools that rank among the top 10 percent statewide for high performance or academic growth.

MILFORD, CT — Seven Milford public schools have been named Schools of Distinction for the 2024–25 school year by the Connecticut State Department of Education, according to a statement from the district.

The recognition highlights schools that rank among the top 10 percent statewide for high performance or academic growth under the state’s Next Generation Accountability System.

The honored schools include Calf Pen Meadow, John F. Kennedy, Live Oaks, Mathewson, Meadowside, Orchard Hills, and Pumpkin Delight elementary schools. Orchard Hills Elementary earned a Level 1 distinction with an accountability score of 89.6 percent, placing it among the top 10 percent of all schools in Connecticut.

Superintendent Anna M. Cutaia said the recognition reflects the district’s commitment to helping every student succeed.

“The recognition of the committed work of our staff can be seen in many ways, including the results we see on the state’s Next Generation Accountability System,” Cutaia said in the statement. “It celebrates the extraordinary efforts of our educators and the shared commitment of our community to providing high-quality instruction that helps every student achieve their goals.”

Board of Education Chair Susan Glennon credited the district’s focus on high-quality instruction and student resources for the strong results.

“This achievement demonstrates the strength of our vision and the dedication of our school communities working together to advance student outcomes,” Glennon said in the statement.

Overall, Milford Public Schools earned 78.5 percent of its possible points in the state’s accountability system, reflecting strong performance across multiple measures of student success.
