West Shore Students Present 'The Veterans Fundraiser Dinner' Class Project

Eight grade students will be hosting a Veterans Fundraiser Dinner to help raise funds for West Haven Veterans Museum and Learning Center.

From Milford Schools: The eighth-grade class at West Shore Middle School is preparing for their annual class project, “The Veterans Fundraising Dinner.” Now in its 15th year at the school, students select a veteran-based organization and plan the fundraising benefit that includes an evening of speeches, dinner, music, and displays.

This year, the class has selected the West Haven Veterans Museum and Learning Center, located in West Haven. The Center is a federally recognized 501(c)3 educational non-profit organization that does not charge an admission fee to visit. The museum’s mission is to honor Connecticut men and women who served our state and country during times of conflict and natural disasters. A collection of artifacts, uniforms, field gear, and other equipment dating from the American Revolution to the present are on display there. Its library contains over 1,000 books available for those interested in military history or involved in research. Some are rare first-hand accounts written by soldiers spanning from the Civil War to World War II.

Tickets are on sale through Monday, May 15th; $15 for adults, $10 for seniors/veterans/kids under 10. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner beginning at approximately 6:20 p.m. Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman is expected to make an appearance and the Milford Volunteer Fife and Drum Corps. will entertain guests throughout dinner.
