Zach Baron Tees Up for Rare Pain Disease Charity

Pledges are sought for the Longest Day of Golf Tournament.

On Monday, Sept. 26, Zach Baron will take to the green at Innis Arden Golf Club to support the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA). Mr. Baron will be complete as many holes of golf as possible in a single day to help raise money for RSDSA, which support people suffering with a rare disease called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). CRPS/RSD is a chronic pain condition that affects the peripheral and central nervous systems. With over five years of experience in the professional golf world, Mr. Baron is the perfect candidate to golf on behalf of the organization.

With more than five years of professional golf experience, Mr. Baron needs the community’s financial support with pledges before the September 26 tournament. Money raised will benefit RSDSA and will be put towards research, education, emergency patient assistance and more.

“We are very excited to kick off our Longest Day of Golf on Sept. 26 with Zach Baron. It’s a new fundraising and awareness promotion, and we are asking members of our CRPS community and the public to support Zach’s golf odyssey by making a one-time donation or to pledge an amount per holes played.” said Jim Broatch, executive vice president and director, RSDSA.

What does chronic pain have in common with golf and why a charitable golf tournament for a rare pain disease? Both the sport and CRPS require patience, time and focus from the player, the people affected and doctors. With no known cure, CRPS often takes time to diagnose and multiple rounds of medical consults. Like golf, CRPS requires stamina and perseverance. Just as many players enjoy the sport throughout their lifetime, CRPS can often last a lifetime. With hope, luck, and quality care and medical research, CRPS can be treated just as a golfer can win the game with practice, training and quality equipment.
