22-Year-Old Oakdale Woman Who Died In Crash Remembered As 'Radiant Soul'
A recent college graduate who died in an accident last week "touched everyone she met," according to her obituary.
OAKDALE, CT β A 22-year-old woman who died in a crash on I-95 in Westbrook is being remembered as "a radiant soul whose laughter and light touched everyone she met."
Isabella Rose Butzgy, of Oakdale, died on the morning of Sept. 5 when her truck collided with a tractor-trailer. She was later pronounced dead, state police said.
The crash occurred near an earlier fatal multi-vehicle accident on the highway that left plywood scattered across the road.

Butzgy was a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Horticulture, according to her obituary.

While there, "she poured her heart into maintaining the Roger Clapp Greenhouse and the Little Field Garden." Butzgy pursued a "lifelong dedication to plants, the planet, and the beauty of nature," and she intended to pursue a PhD in horticulture.
"Isabella lived with a passion that inspired everyone around her," her obituary reads. "She was an advocate for safe access to medical marijuana, human rights, and social justice, never afraid to speak up for what she believed in. She maintained friendships with people from all walks of life and cared deeply for every connection she made from Montville High School to Three Rivers, to Southern, and to UMaine. Her empathy, humor, and charisma made her unforgettable. Many described her energy as a bright light."
She is survived by her parents, two siblings, and her fiancΓ©.
